    Data Utopia vs Data Dystopia

Recent high-profile data disasters like those at Centrelink and the ATO, cyber-security failures at Sony, Target and the DNC, the growing influence of fake news, social media algorithm manipulation and the dark data arts of Cambridge Analytica that helped deliver Brexit and the Trump Administration - have raised awareness of the frightening potential for data dystopia.

But data is also being used to create a better world in healthcare, environmental management, better delivery of public services and more fulfilling business/customer interactions, product innovations and new revenue streams and business models.

This high-level leaders panel will look at the DATATOPIA big picture and touch on all four of our summit streams. In the fight between data utopia and data dystopia, which side will triumph?

    • How can we ensure that data is harnessed more for utopian outcomes than dystopian ones?
    • How crucial are governance practices for preventing data chaos?
    • Can you mitigate risk through better infrastructure optimisation?
    • Pervasive business intelligence & analytics: Big Brother or better world?
